Switch from Cursor

Keep your editor. Pay only when the AI works.

codai is AI for code that only charges when it works. It is a model, not an editor: you can plug it into Cursor itself, or use it from VS Code, Claude Code and the codai desktop and phone apps. EU-based, invoiced correctly in EUR.

Why people try codai next to Cursor

  • Billed per verified task

You pay for a task when it worked — tests passed or you confirmed it. Failed attempts never use up a task, and unconfirmed ones are not billed as a success.

  • No weekly usage pool to watch

Each plan includes a number of verified tasks a month; beyond that each verified task has one fixed price. Daily and monthly spend caps live in the hub.

  • One model name everywhere

The same `codai` model works in Cursor, VS Code Copilot Chat, Claude Code, Codex CLI, Continue, Cline, Zed and the codai apps, with the `x-codai-routed-to` header naming the model that answered.

  • EU company, EUR invoices

Gateway and database run in Google Cloud europe-west1 (Belgium). Prices and invoices are in EUR from a Romanian company.

What you keep from Cursor, and what codai does not do

  • Tab completion inside Cursor always uses Cursor’s own models; codai cannot replace it.
  • Cursor Cloud Agents use Cursor’s curated models, not codai.
  • To use your own key in Cursor you need a paid Cursor plan, and every request still goes through Cursor’s servers.
  • On Cursor Teams and Enterprise, Cursor charges its own per-token rate on requests that use your key.
  • codai is not open source and cannot be self-hosted. Model inference may run outside the EU unless your business account is moved to EU-only processing.

Use codai inside Cursor in four steps

Takes about two minutes. You need a codai key from the hub.

  1. Open Cursor Settings → Models and expand API Keys.
  2. Paste your codai key into OpenAI API Key and turn on Use OpenAI API Key.
  3. Turn on Override OpenAI Base URL and enter https://ai.codai.ro/v1 (no /chat/completions).
  4. Add a custom model named exactly codai, restart Cursor and pick codai in a new chat.
